How to convert Scan to PDF
- Capture or upload a page. Use your camera to photograph a document, or upload an existing photo.
- Drag the corners. Four handles appear on the photo — drag each one onto a corner of your document to correct the perspective.
- Add the page. The corrected page is added to your document. Repeat for every page you need to scan.
- Create the PDF. Combine every captured page into a single downloadable PDF, in the order you captured them.
How the perspective correction works
A phone camera almost never lines up perfectly square with a document, so a straight-on photo comes out as a slightly skewed quadrilateral rather than a clean rectangle. Once you mark where the document's four corners actually are in the photo, this tool computes the mathematical transform that maps that quadrilateral back to a flat rectangle and resamples the image through it — the same underlying idea a dedicated scanner app uses, done with the four corners you place rather than automatic edge detection.
Why corners are dragged rather than detected automatically
Automatically finding a document's edges in an arbitrary photo — different backgrounds, lighting, and paper colours — is genuinely hard to get right reliably, and a wrong guess is worse than no guess: it silently warps a page incorrectly instead of leaving it alone. Starting with the corners at the photo's own edges and letting you drag them exactly where the document actually is takes a few seconds and is right every time, which matters more for a document you're about to keep as a PDF.
