How to convert PDF to Handwriting
- Add your PDF. Drag a PDF with real, selectable text onto the drop zone.
- Adjust slant and spacing. Set how strongly the text leans and how loosely words are spaced.
- Pick an ink colour and ruled lines. Choose a colour and decide whether to show faint ruled lines behind the text.
- Convert and download. Each page of text is redrawn as a handwriting-styled image and combined into a PDF.
Where the handwriting style comes from
No font file ships with this site — bundling one would mean either an outbound request to fetch it, which breaks the promise every tool here makes, or shipping a large binary asset with no way to verify it locally. Instead, this uses the browser's own generic "cursive" font, which every browser resolves to some handwriting-style typeface installed on your device, and layers per-word slant and small random jitter in position and rotation on top — that irregularity is most of what actually reads as "handwritten" rather than just italic.
The result varies by device, the same way handwriting varies by person — Windows, macOS and Linux each ship different default cursive fonts. That's a feature here, not a bug: it means the output isn't the exact same font as everyone else who has used this tool.
What this needs from the source PDF
This works on the text layer of a PDF, the same one Extract Text reads. A scanned document with no underlying text has nothing to convert — run OCR — Searchable PDF on it first, or use it as-is if the goal is simply to have something to write by hand from.

Will the output text be selectable?
No — each page is drawn as an image, the same way genuine handwriting on paper would be. That's inherent to redrawing text with slant and jitter rather than using a real font.
Why does the handwriting style look different on different computers?
It uses your device's own cursive-style font rather than one bundled with the site, so the exact look depends on what your operating system ships. It will look different on Windows, macOS and Linux.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion happens entirely inside your browser.
Does this work on a scanned PDF?
Only if it already has a text layer. A scan with no extractable text has nothing to convert — run OCR — Searchable PDF first.
Can I control how messy or neat it looks?
The slant and spacing controls adjust the overall style; a small amount of random jitter is always applied so the same word doesn't look identical every time it appears.
Is there a page limit?
No limit we impose, though very long documents take longer since every word is redrawn individually.
